From Hurting to Home: Ben’s Story

Ben was far too young to have already experienced so much pain. Found abandoned as a stray in Miami, he arrived at Big Dog Ranch Rescue suffering from severe demodex and painful skin infections caused by prolonged neglect. His skin was raw and inflamed, and his eyes were swollen shut. But even through everything he had endured, Ben’s tail was still wagging. There was still a happy, hopeful puppy underneath all that pain.

oncern should have been which toy to play with, Ben was fighting to heal.

But the moment Ben arrived at Big Dog Ranch Rescue, his life began to change. He was finally safe and surrounded by people determined to give him the care and love he had been missing.

For his first six weeks at the Ranch, Ben received dedicated medical care from our team, including medicated baths, nutritious meals, and the treatment his body desperately needed. Slowly but surely, Ben began his journey toward recovery.

Day by day, we watched him transform. His skin began to heal, his discomfort eased, and underneath everything he had endured, a happy, loving puppy started to shine through. His playful personality emerged, his confidence grew, and soon Ben was able to experience what every puppy deserves: toys, affection, playtime, and the freedom to simply be a dog.

And then came the moment we had all been waiting for. Just seven weeks after arriving at Big Dog Ranch Rescue, Ben found his forever home! 

The puppy who was once abandoned and hurting is now beginning the happiest chapter of his life: adopted, loved, and home.

Ben’s journey is a beautiful reminder of what rescue makes possible. His transformation happened because people chose to care, donate, offer hope, and refuse to give up on him.
