Veteran Service Dog Training Program
We are extremely grateful for the service of our Veterans and active military. That’s why we introduced our Veteran Service Dog Training Program; to help military Veterans by using the power of the human-animal bond while providing a second chance for rescue dogs by training and matching them up with military veterans who can benefit from having a trained service dog in their lives.
Big Dog Ranch Rescue works closely with the local Veterans Administration. The V.A. has classified the Big Dog Ranch Rescue Veteran Dog Training Program as a “Non-Traditional and Innovative” therapy.

Rescued Dogs, Rescuing Veterans

Program Details
Professional dog trainers will train using positive reinforcement techniques and teach the dog to fit in with the Veteran’s lifestyle as much as possible.
Our dogs use trained tasks to help mitigate disabilities that affect our Veterans’ everyday lives.
Specific rescue dogs will be identified and matched up to the needs of the Veteran.
Big Dog Ranch Rescue will provide all training at NO cost to the Veteran and will guide each participant in selecting and obtaining the equipment needed for their dog.
Each dog will be kept up to date on all vaccinations, micro-chipped, and receive reduced-cost veterinary care and services for the first year of training through Big Dog Ranch Rescue’s veterinary healing center.
