A Golden Chapter for Nano

Meet Nano — this 9-year-old Chihuahua was brought to Big Dog Ranch Rescue along with three other dogs after enduring years of abuse. Their rescue came under heartbreaking circumstances: they were dragged behind a car by their leashes.

Nano's paw pads were torn open, and his nails worn down to the skin—clear signs of unimaginable suffering. At his age, no dog should be recovering from such cruelty. Instead, dogs like Nano should be spending their golden years surrounded by love, comfort, and care.

Now, Nano is part of our Senior Sanctuary, a safe haven where our older dogs can finally experience peace. Here, they’re surrounded by kindness, offered safe, quiet spaces, loving attention, and the respect every senior dog should know in their final years.. Many of our senior pups, like Nano, have survived a lifetime of neglect—but at Big Dog Ranch, they’re finally getting the chance to heal.
